New works & site shop

Barbara

I finished all those paintings for Little Van Gogh, 11 in total, all 100 x 100 cm (39 x 39")... Was a task I can tell you! But I did enjoy the making, I like setting myself a challenge, I find I can work through ideas when I'm working fast & sometimes nice surprises happen, but not always, one piece was painted over 3 times... If you click to read more of this post you can view the series, oh and if you click on an image it'll pop up and you can quickly scroll through them.

I'll add a link to Little Van Gogh once the works are live on their site, they're all available to purchase for £525 each and will ship from [...]

Hello! Couple of newsy things, a few sales featuring pieces of my work on One Kings Lane to look out for this week: The Modern Home, also Try a Little Lilac & The Shared Collection both start today (12th of May), then there's Visions of Summer and Layer With Ease (both start tomorrow - 13th May) - One Kings Lane prints are only available to buyers in the U.S.

I've donated a painting to Medics Against Violence for their upcoming charity event 'The Enchanted Garden Party' which takes place at the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel, Glasgow on Saturday the 7th of June, tickets are £35 each. Medics Against Violence is a Scottish charity aiming to prevent acts of violence - you can read more about what they do on their website, they're very much my kind of charity!

Also, I'm Artist of the Month over at Alt-Aesthetics a fab not-for-profit arts site supporting emerging UK-based artists.

Saatchi Art - Yves Klein Blue

Saatchi Art - Inspired by Yves Klein Collection

Sasha (2013) is featured in one of Saatchi Art's homepage collections this week, Yves Klein Blue. I always like looking at their collections, there's some great work on that site, I always seem to find something to inspire me.

It's been yet another week of poor sleep (my baby is a terrible sleeper), I am very much an 8 hours + kind of girl sleep-wise and the past few months are starting to take their toll! That was one of the reasons I switched from oil to acrylic gouache, just for the time being as I'm getting such short spells of studio time I need the fast drying time. I keep thinking about oil though, I'm definitely going back to it soon because while acrylics are bright and fun, they lack the depth of oils (in my opinion anyway). Acrylic suits rushed painting, oil suits my standard 2 hour slots of painting time - I like a breather after a couple of hours.

Butcher Girls, Chocolate & Instagram

New work!

I have works featured in sales on One Kings Lane this week, A Pretty Palette and Apartment Updates. Never thought to mention this before but One Kings Lane ship to the US only, sorry if you're UK-based, I'm neglecting my UK print customers at the moment. This won't be for long, I promise... Once this big project is out of the way I'll crack on with the print offering.

Forgot to mention The Butcher Girls of Love, a great site dedicated to the wonder of female creativity in all its forms - go and join if you're a creative girl or woman, or at least have a butchers!

Anyone else had a week of binging on chocolate? I'd like to say that I'm sick of the sight of it but that would be a blatant lie. Aside from choco-mania, I've also developed Instagram-mania. I did have an account for about 4 days back in January but deleted it because I didn't think I liked it, I changed my mind, ever the weather cock that I am, anyway, I'm here if you too are an Instagrammer - georginavinsun.

I blame breastfeeding and my having been donated an old iphone for the jump to Instagram. Breastfeeding gives you lots of forced idle time, I used to be able to read while I was feeding, but Oliver gets distracted by books these days and wants to try to eat them or throw them. Enter Rich's old iphone along with all its distractions including ebay... I will say one thing for ebay as a buyer (as a seller I hate it more and more these days), it's brilliant for finding old books. James has become a fan of the Sam Pig books by Alison Uttley, an amazing Beatrix Potter-type writer but better than Beatrix, or different, yes, different. Anyway, I found the entire series to match the three from my childhood on ebay at bargain prices too.
