I was really pleased to have a couple of my pieces selected for the very different Chester Open Art exhibition which was organised by the folk at Chester Arts Centre and is currently drawing to a close after being up all Summer. There's a link here to their Facebook page, they're a very inclusive and diverse space working tirelessly to promote art in all its forms and make it accessible to all.
The exhibtion was fuelled by a desire to bring art to people who wouldn't normally attend an exhibition in a traditional gallery setting. The artwork was all supplied as hi-res digital files, printed out by the gallery and exhibited as affordable prints. I think this is a really wonderful way to approach such an exhibition!
The guys at Chester Arts Centreran into a lot of problems while organising the exhibition, simply shop/space owners not really being on board with the concept, it all sounded such a lot of work to organise. You can read a little more about this on their Facebook page. Happily they managed to secure a really good number of venues and create a really coherent town-wide exhibition.
